Biography

I am a retired finance professor, having taught at Texas Tech University (while I was a Ph.D. student), The University of Western Ontario (for 4 years), and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio (for 29 years). During my time at St. Mary’s, I served as MBA Director and Associate Dean.

Prior to my academic career, I worked in small business for 7 years and was part-owner of a central station burglar alarm company for 3 years.

I have traveled to 37 countries and have spent over 2 years of my life in Innsbruck, Austria. I have visited South Korea three times, and during two of those visits, I taught in the MBA Program at Chonnam National University.

Growing up, I moved roughly every two years from the age of six until I went to college. I attended twelve different schools before entering university.

At Baylor University, I earned a B.S. in Physics, an M.S. in Physics, and an M.S. in Economics. I earned my Ph.D. in Finance at Texas Tech University.

I have earned three professional designations: CFA, CMT, and CAIA. While living in San Antonio, I served as President of the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts.

I have written three nonfiction books and have just finished a novel.

I am married and have four children and five grandchildren.
My hobbies are cycling, golf, and bridge.
